Holy Cross is a small Catholic Primary school set in an idyllic location to the North of the Isle of Wight. The school was originally founded in 1953 by The Sisters of Christ, and is set in the grounds of what was once the Convent of the Cross. We enjoy beautiful surroundings, with stunning views of the Solent and beyond.
Our mission statement, our vision, is our aim for all of our pupils at Holy Cross. It reflects the nurturing feel of our school community, our aim for all to achieve, all underpinned by our strong Catholic ethos. We provide a caring environment for your child, in which we offer a wide range of balanced learning opportunities for all children, to help them grow into independent and responsible people capable of fulfilling their full potential.
Life at Holy Cross is underpinned by Gospel values, and pupils and staff are encouraged to reflect on how the teachings of Jesus can steer us in our daily lives.
Alongside Gospel values, Holy Cross has a set of school values, which we aspire to instil in all our pupils. They are the golden thread running through all we do, and they are how we deliver our mission statement:

Kindness
At Holy Cross, we learn to care for each other, for those in need, in our community, and in the wider world. We show kindness by celebrating the dignity and uniqueness of every member of the school by being inclusive to all. We can show kindness by caring for God’s creation, including our school environment. We learn from the examples set by Jesus, always asking ‘What would Jesus do?’
Confidence
At Holy Cross, we strive to build confidence in all our children by providing a happy and welcoming atmosphere. We build strong and meaningful relationships within out school community by supporting and encouraging each other. We encourage everyone to play a part in our school life and we celebrate and promote effort.
Excellence
At Holy Cross, support all to fulfil their potential, seeking opportunities which enable all to flourish. We celebrate children’s achievements, both in and out of school. We promote excellence by having high expectations in presentation, both of ourselves and our work, and through our behaviour.
