Cultural Capital

Cultural Capital at Holy Cross Catholic Primary School

At Holy Cross, we believe that every child is created in the image of God and deserves the opportunity to flourish. Rooted in our mission “One school family, achieving together, anchored in the love of Christ”, and underpinned by our values of kindness, confidence and excellence, we are committed to nurturing the unique gifts and potential of every child.

Cultural capital is the accumulation of knowledge, skills, experiences and behaviours that children draw upon to navigate and succeed in life. It supports them in understanding the world around them, widening their horizons, and preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society. For our pupils, cultural capital is not just about future success, but about living out Gospel values, growing in character, and striving for excellence in all they do - regardless of their background or starting point.

At Holy Cross, our curriculum is deliberately designed to develop the whole child. Through rich experiences, high-quality teaching and meaningful opportunities, we aim to instil aspiration, resilience and compassion. From engaging with the arts, music, literature and languages, to experiencing trips and visitors, to participating in local and global community initiatives, children are encouraged to explore, discover, and reflect.

We want our pupils to leave Holy Cross as kind, confident individuals who are proud of who they are, conscious of the world around them, and ready to take their place in it - anchored always in Christ’s love.
